Is it possible to adjust the speed of an audio CD in amaroK?
Right now I find amaroK pretty unusable for playing audioCSs, as the CD-ROM drive rotates the CD at a full speed (for me 48x), and thus, making a pretty big noise. If it was possible to slow down the CD rotation (so that it doesn\'t make much noise), listening to the music from the PC would make sense. What do you think? |

This needs root access. You can do this outside of amarok with the tool hdparm (option -E I think).

(under linux) you can also use \"eject -x 12 /dev/hdc\" where 12 is the speed to use and /dev/hdc is the cdrom device name. \"eject -X /dev/hdc\" will give a list of available speeds. you should also be able to do this as an ordinary user, so long as you are a member of the group that owns \"/dev/hdc\"
