This doesn't work directly (imho due to the lack of a midi synth in most soundcards), you'll need to convert it first.

Here's how to do it with timidity:

1. Open a console
2. Type:
timidity -Ow

The output filename will be .wav

From there you can convert it to ogg/flac/mp3/etc.
