Hi,

not sure about this: I guess amarok gets the images with the cd cover from amazon and thus also links to that size for buying a cd?
I'm a fan of asian music, and thus it would be nice if I could somehow search/use yesasia.com instead of amazon, as amazon doesn't
seem to know about any asian music (or, they have some small selection of older popular stuff :).

if I had to recompile amarok, that would be difficult (finding the time to), but if some scripts are used and someone can point me to those, maybe I
can give hacking those a try myself? (if it is mostly using http/html to search and extrac the information amarok needs, maybe i can do that.)

Thanks, Andreas

To make this work, the other site you are proposing needs some API amaroK can use to retrieve the cover pictures.
If I remember right, this is the main reason why we have "only" amazon to retrieve covers from.

The amazon part is no script, it's part of the c++ code.
But it is possible that covers can be set using DCOP which might enable some kind of script to do the job. Check the Wiki for details.

In the cover manager you can pick to select from Amazon.jp.

It's a great feature to fetch the album covers from amazon. But why doesn't amarok do it automatically when playing a song where no cover is available locally? It's not that userfriendly if you have always go to cover manager and then update them.

Considering the standardized format of Wikipedia, I imagine it would be relatively simple to write an algorithm to extract the album art from an album's wiki page..

Now that the Magnatune store has been incorporated and the album cover is shown in the store, it would be nice if buying an album from the Amarok Magnatune store would also add the album cover to Amarok.

Probably because, believe it or not in this modern wired age, not everyone is connected to the net 24/7 ;)

While it would be a nice feature, it would HAVE to be optional.

EDIT: Oops, and forgot to mention, I don't know what your strike rate is with amazon covers, but mine's about 30% - which would mean any covers fetched have a 3/10 chance of being the correct cover...
