Is it possible to restrict amaroK's access-privileges to the MySQL-database to do SELECTs only?

My idea is to have one "master"-user who can add songs to the collection. All other users will have read permissions only.

You could, and just deal with the queries which fail, for example the playcounter, score and rating field which need updates.  There are  plenty of REPLACE, UPDATE and DELETE statements as well.

Why don't you try it out and tell us.
