I use 1.4.1 under Dapper and cannot mount the device (an iriver ifp 799). Is there no known solution?
I would just LOOVE to see it work! |

Hi louis,
This is a distro specific problem. You need to add your user to the correct group, typically 'storage'. Failing that, you will probably find using ifpline as root works perfectly. Speak to k/ubuntu users or ask around at their forums/irc. |

Hi and thanks for the reply. My user is in the storage group but the thing is that, I don't know since when, I can't access the ifp even as root, whereas about a month ago I was able to. Now, it just says no new media devices detected and to run a dcop command (dcop kded mediamanager something) about which I get an error that the object doesn't exist.
Now, I've already asked on the ubuntu forums and no luck. Can you give me some pointers where to start debugging this issue? |

Strike the last!
I noticed the device wasn't showing in lsusb either. Strangelyenough, after I changed the USB plug it's connected to, no it works. As root it does. The amarok run aqs user shows something about the iriver mounted at null, but can't access it... |
