use md5sum to identify files

Sun Sep 17, 2006 12:42 pm
Hi,
i have my music-collection on an external harddisk. The thing is, because i have more than one of these disks, i end up having them mounted to different locations from time to time...

So in my opinion it would be cool if amarok would register the files on behalve of their md5sum+size and not on their "path"..

of course if the file is altered (id3tag changed or smth) the md5sum would have to be updated...

in that way moving files would not end up in files not found anymore...

what do you think of that?

I think you should investigate the new dynamic collections functionality in 1.4.2 and later :)

nice... i will... im at the moment using 1.4.0* ...

i searched for some information about details.. but in the wiki there is only some superficial informations on what it does...

does it use /proc/* or /sys/* to determine the device? and what does it do if i rename files on my harddisk? has it some fuzzy-search for files?
