[REQ] Quick Search/Jump To box

Sat Dec 23, 2006 12:56 pm
Suppose I have a large-ish collection of music all crammed into one playlist. Now suppose I decided that right now I need to listen to, say, Royksopp's "Remind me".

What do I do? I type Remind Me in the search box and double-click the song. Then I decide to move to another song by pessing a global shortcut, say Win+B. What? "Remind Me" again? Win+B? "Remind me"? WTF?

And then it turns out that the Search function isn't really a function, it is a Filter. And as long as I have some text in it I cannot move to another song until I clear the search box.

I understand that Amarok lets me rediscover my music, but why rediscover it every time I search for a particular song? ;)

I guess we really need something similar to Winamp's Jump To box where I can find a song I like without worrying that my playlist has mysteriously disappeared.
