Smarter Auto Tagging

Sat Jan 06, 2007 2:34 am
Every now and then I get mp3's from questionable "sources" and the tags are completely foobar.  I usually use a program called EasyTag to clean them up in no time.  The issue I have is with the genres.  So here's my idea.  Amarok needs something that will scan your music, collect relevant data from the internet, say from last.fm and fix the tags for you automatically specifically the genres.

Here's a screen shot of the last.fm generes I'd like used in the auto tagging.

Seems kind of restrictive... After all, genre isn't something that really can be predefined. Different people will consider different styles/types of music as different genres. One only has to look at last.fm tags, for example, to see the variation.

Don't think this should be implanted in Amarok. A script maybe?
