Option to eschew id3 tags

Mon Jan 29, 2007 11:16 pm
I have a deep aversion of id3 tags. They are redundant in an irritating way, and hard to manage. I usually store all the info I need in file names. (%artist - %album - %track - %title; %artist - %title)

It would be really nice if there was some checkbox somewhere in AmaroK saying "disable writing of id3 tags" or some such. As a dirty hack to prevent the generating of id3 tags, I -w-ed all my music files.

However, as the collection database doesn't guess correct (see thread "Collection building should use the tag guessing schemes I set up"), I would have liked to set some stuff by hand. And I can't do this ("the file ... is not writeable") And no, I won't +w my files, as I want an actively id3-less music collection, I just want to edit the info in the DATABASE.

Would be nice if I could. Otherwise I just love AmaroK.
