I wonder what cpu usage you have?
When I just start amarok on my system cpu load is between 17-23% and sometimes reaches 50% (amarok minimized) when amarok is not minimized avg load 35-38% and from time to time jumps to 63% I have amarok 1.4.5 and xine-lib 1.1.4 |

I logged the usage of amarok...
the column starting with 2.0 is the cpu usage... and every 5 sec it captures the current... the 50% usage is where the song changed... i think its because of my huge collection with many cover prctures and the getting the lyrics and so on... but basically im happy with it... oh and by the way my Laptop got the folling configuration: AMD Turion 1600 MHZ X2 Dual Core, 2048 MB DDR2 RAM, 120 GB Festplatte, DVD - Brenner, Nvidia Go 7400 Grafik (max. 512MB), WLAN...

The 50% happen because in a song change, Amarok does a lot of database queries, so it slows down then. You can change your database type to MySQL which will be faster then.

Actually sqlite is in-process so it might be faster then mysql.
Something must be wrong with cpu's setup.

Sorry but i think I have to disagree... because my collection is not that big and Mysql databases are often really big... but actually I really do not have any clue about it...
I just know that the Cpu usage dokumentation software is quit correct because i triede it with three app's... |
