Thank you for looking at my mockup!
It is (was) 800x600 and I maybe went a bit large on some of the fonts, but the basic idea is there. The fonts should probably be adjustable anyway as should the borders between all of these elements. Also, the 'Context' pane on the right should match the current playing artist (the album cover in the center top)... The division between artists, both in the Collection (left) and in the Playlist (center), should probably be the 'alternating list' colours as set in KDE's KControl; gimp was fighting my efforts to do that properly. Additionally, around/below the current-playing album is the Analizer; it could dance in a circle around the current album, or do all kinds of other fun things. Album art (in Collection) should be 'turn-off-able' to allow for faster loading if needed. Somewhere, Random button needs to be added.... ok thanks!

Quite simply, I don't like it. Too cluttered. Have you checked out our mockup for 2.0:
http://www.methylblue.com/images/amarok_2_mockup.png This is what we're currently implementing for Amarok2. Thanks for the effort though

Too cluttered? I would much rather see album art (as a way to inspire me to choose) than the 37 artists listed in a single column (as my screen allows now). These huge lists of bands, or the playlist (even longer than 37), make for a uninviting overly-textheavy interface -- that seems cluttered to me. Your mockup improves this for the playlist section, but does nothing in the band/artist section. Maybe my artists section could be implemented as one of the "Tree View/Flat View/Album View" options?
Thank you for the feedback. I really wish that I knew how to make a good interface mockup, is there software for that?? |

That looks awesome! How far are you into the Amarok2.0 GUI?
