Hi there,
as a user with a touch-screen system (old panel pc) I am missing at least one button in the UI: "Append To Playlist" Maybe I'm too blind or too stupid, then please enlighten me. Otherwise, here's what I mean: I browse in the collection, in any view / sorting order, e.g. by Artist. I want to play all by one artist. So, I can right-click on the artist name and then select "Append to Playlist" from the context menu. It even has an icon in front of it in that menu! There goes all the songs into the playlist. Fine. So the function is there - of course. So, why not use it the above way? Well, several reasons: Right-clicking is not so nice on a resistive (finger-operated) touchscreen display, as it involves pressing an additional hardware button at the other end of the screen. Also, drag&drop is not very easy, at least not on my particular type of screen. And double-clicks are also not so good. Hence, all I want is that "append to playlist" button somewhere next to the collection pane, f.i. just above next to the view mode buttons. Alternatively, it can go into the customizable button bar underneath the playlist area. Does not really matter. However, I can not add this button, it does not appear in the custimization dialogue for the buttons. There are several others, but not this one. I had a look at the UI config file, and then at the sources, to see if I could add it in the xml file, but no luck, could not figure it out. For comparison: Winamp's native media library (which is just unacceptably slow!) works that way. It is split in three frames: Artist, Album, Songlist. If one only clicks an artist (first frame), and nothing in the other two (i.e. no further refining), and then clicks the one and only "enqueue" or "play" buttons at the bottom, the entire artist goes in. If in addition in the second frame the album is selected, but again no specific song in the third, then the play/enqueue buttons act on that album. Finally, if one or more specific songs are selected, only that goes in. As we are browsing the library in a "tree mode" in Amarok, the same should apply to the respective currently highlighted tree level (artist, album under artist, song under album under artist; and equivalent for any other browsing mode). And then, while we are talking buttons, a "punch in" button would be nice, which adds the currently selected item (Album, Artist, Song etc, simply the thing that is selected in the collection) to the playlist right after the current song. That would do. How to? Thanks in advance Best regards lalabox |

I'm very interessted by this post cause i wanna build a touchscreen desk with a 19" ELO Touchscreen and an Ikea table. Its like a Microsoft Surface, but under linux for Amarok using. In my opinion the only problem with this solution is the usuability of Amarok.
Several Reasonsn, like said by lalabox : - Drag&Drop of Album in playlist - Searching in database ( can be resolved by adding a keybord in the table ) The best way will be a solution like a coverflow of Itunes, but for Amarok ( like the project fullscreen gui with database seeking range & something like Amarok Context Menu ) Estimated price : 600$ With funds, i think starting that at end of August.
