Tying to hook up Amarok with a MYSQL database that's set up with XAMPP. With host set to localhost I get an error...
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) XAMPPs mysql socket is at /opt/lampp/var/mysql/mysql.sock. How do I get the two to find each other? Any ideas? |

I am having exactly the same problem, also using xampp and mysql. How do you change the value for the mysql socket?? I have searched everywhere for this and cant find the answer.
@Dapuzz How would I create a soft link between these two files?? |

Well I have to say this XAMPP sounds pretty bone headed if it doesn't actually configure your system correctly.
A symbolic link is just ln -s target link_name
