hi folks!

at first sorry, i didn't find accurate info about this (maybe i'm just too blind ;)  )

I want to collect accurate info in which situations Amarok writes Tags to Files and in which not

SituationWrite to File(Tag)Write to DB
Editing Files directly(File info)YESYES
Bunch editing Files(edit x tracks)YESYES
Editing right from PlaylistYESYES
Fetch Cover from AmazonNOYES
Cover Manager Album fetchNOYES

another question would be what amarok does if it doesn't have permissions to change the file( to me it looks like it is changed in the db only then)
sometimes it seems amarok it changing tags in the background, sometimes not?

maybe you can help me to make this list more accurate, so that other users get quick info on how they have to deal with their tracks when using amarok

if amarok doesn't have permission to write to files the tags aren't changed anywhere and you get a popup telling you they couldn't be saved.
apart from that, tag changes are written to the files as well as the database. The exceptions are album covers which are never embedded, and stats/ratings.

thanks for the info, looks like it works as i tought

will do i bit more of testing, but for me it seemed that amarok doesn't do much harddrive access(almost none) when i save tags, is this normal?
i know a lot other mp3 managing softwares where the tag writing process uses much more harddrive access and network bandwith (files are a CIFS share over network)
