Viewing multiple flash disks as a single media device

I have a media device (Insignia NS-DV4G if you care) that also takes expansion memory in the form of a uSD card. When connected by USB, both the internal flash and the uSD card show up as separate usb mass sotrage devices:

SCSI device sdd: 7766016 512-byte hdwr sectors (3976 MB)
SCSI device sde: 3969984 512-byte hdwr sectors (2033 MB)

I'd love to be able to have a single "media device" that spanned both of these devices -- i.e., it's the union of these two disks.

I realize this potentially quite complicated and that a single file can't span the two disks. However, for the semi-trivial case of "a bunch of files in a storage media" maybe Amarok could simply "if (file fits on sde) { copy file to sde } else { copy to sdf }". When displaying the list of files, simply concatenate the file listings.

I used to use a sync script that did basically that. Possible?
