I usually add mp3s into my collection in huge number in one go. Unfortunately, I have no way of knowing which songs I have added recently. Sorting by playcount does not help because I already have unplayed songs prior to addition of the new songs.
It would be nice if I can sort my collection according to date added. I found out that amarok stores createdate field on tags table while I was browsing mySQL database. I guess, there must be a way to sort the collection according to date added. It is something like smart playlist from itunes' from this post: http://podophile.com/2008/02/01/find-yo ... from-2007/ The closest I can see is Newest Items in Statistics but it is only limited to the 50 newest songs. Any idea on how to sort by date added? |

well... not exactly BY date, but you can filter your collection to show recently added items - use the pulldown menu between the filter bar and the column headers on the collection tab. (The one that shows "entire collection" by default)

How does one go about doing this in Amarok 2? I have a massive collection, and add to it three-four times a week. I've no idea what I added three weeks ago. When I'm just back from holiday, I can't find what I recently added and some music I've bought winds up being lost forever. I want Amarok 1.5 back for this one single, easy to add feature.

I don't think it's been implemented in Amarok2 yet - I've heard rumours it's planned, but probably won't be til 2.1

So I upgrade to 2.1 Beta and still can't find out how to access this near-universal-to-music-players feature. Any further news?

It's possible since 2.1-beta.
Just type added:"expression" in the search field. Some examples? added:today #obviously added:<1w #added this week You can use the following keys today yesterday < #less than w #for week d #for day m #for month y #for year more than, using ">", doesn't work Sometimes it's really useful to read the ChangeLog, isn't it. Or to say with Cahn's axiom: When all else fails, read the instructions. m0nk

Problem solved
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |
