How to store vote in mp3?

Mon Feb 18, 2008 7:05 pm
I would like to have the ability to store the vote of a given mp3 in the file itself, so the vote value (1 to 5 stars) I've given to this song is accessible elsewhere (for exemple on my other computers, on at a friend's home), to find easilly the best song I like easilly I've thought of puting the value inside the very name of the song, like "01 - Song Title (vote 3).mp3", or 01 - Song Title {vote=3}.mp3", but this would cleaner to put it inside an id3 tag.

I'm ready to hack into the code if it's needed, and to provide the cleanest patch you ever saw, but I may need some direction to begin.

Many thanks

Stibbons.

I use the comments section for that, using #s as shorthand, for numbers 1-5.

For example, I'll put "1s 2s 3s 4s" in for a 4-star song.  I have the numbers repeat, so 3s pulls in 3 and higher, rather than only 3s songs... but of course you could omit that and just use disjuncts to filter, like "3s OR 4s OR 5s".
