A) I'd like the ability to remove stuff I'm not going to use (e.g. the undo, redo, search playlist etc. bar, or the bottom bar elements like "Playing: %title"). I'd like it to be more compact and less cluttery. If every gui element was removable/addable, and customizable regarding placement (like foobar2000), it would be the best music program out there!
B) I like to keep the playlist view open with the toggle-able "collection" pane, so i can toggle it, load a cd, and untoggle it. This way i just have the playlist showing what is now playing and what will play next. I don't need a lot of space for this, but when I shrink the window, it grows again after a few minute. |

I think the scripts may have the flexibility to handle more UI stuffs in the future. In Amarok 2.

We Amarok devs aren't exactly fans of extreme customization options. That's simply a design decision.
If you want something like a "Lego interface", check out Foobar2000 on Windows.

I think it's very good idea.
I was user Foobar2000 on windows and I liked foobar very much. Now I use amarok, because GNOME players haven't options enough, but I think it's too few for me. Devs - just create amarok second foobar |

No chance of that happening

I agree with markey about customizablity of course. But all of the features you mention, outside of hiding the status bar, are already available in Amarok 1.4 I think.
You can add/remove buttons to the toolbar (under the "Settings" menu) and can expand and collapse the sidebar by click on the sidebar button of the current sidebar.
