Good day all,
I'm reasonably new with Linux but have got many things working quite well. Perhaps I'm missing something altogether but something I think would be fantastic in Amarok would be the ability to add music on my Samba server to the music collection. I am playing music from the server right now which is great, but the only problem is, it's playing in my playlist, however there is no feasible way to sort through the music. I suppose one possibility is to mount a remote drive (Samba share) to my current machine (laptop) say everytime I boot, but how this is achieved I have no idea at this stage. Basic configuration is a Linux server running a webserver, FTP server, Bittorrent Webclient, everything seems to work so far except I haven't tried remote desktop or Samba shares externally yet. Anyways, my main machine is my laptop and my intention is to be able to play music which is saved on the server from both my LAN and then externally say when I'm school or really anywhere on the internet. Is there some way I can mount my server's media drive from anywhere so I can just use Amarok as a standard music player? Or is there a way that Amarok can read from Samba shares and in fact draw its collection from there so it's possible to sort through my music and use it again as a standard music player? Thanks in advance for any tips, the Linux support network is fantastic! Die Microsoft! Kevin |

Let me just revise and condense...
If Amarok could read a collection over a Samba/NFS share it would be fantastic! The only other option is to locally mount a Samba/NFS share and have Amarok read from there... I can read all my files as we speak, but the collection is non-existent because it's reading from the Samba share (I have this giant list which is totally disorganized) Thanks Amarok team! |

I was wondering if in Amarok 2.0 if it is going to be changed so samba shares can have their absolute paths used (\\
