I have only complete albums in my collection, and see a lot of duplicate tracks (when a track is also on a greatest hits or soundtrack, for example).  I'd like to know if there is a movement afoot to have the ability to associate a single file with multiple parents, which would give additional storage space.  I haven't run any scripts to see exactly what my gain would be, but the complexity of this project also intrigues me.

i think this would be manageable with symlinks, one album (the first you got with a duplicate track) carrys the original track, in other albums there is a symlink on the first . . .
should be doable via a script, when amarok2 is finished and i have more time i'll give it a try.
