Does anyone else miss this from 1.4?

I am talking about splitting the collection trees by first letter:

This really helped visually break up the collection and find things quicker. It would really speed up collection -> playlist workflow if you add this back in.

Yep, it's been on our TODO for a while. We will very likely implement this feature in one of the upcoming releases.
