I know the developers won't like this, but it's the one thing I want Amarok 2 to be able to do. I see no reason why I need to have a middle pane at all, and see that it would make the most sense for the Context View to be a tab within the left pane. Hiding the middle pane is no good, because then I completely lose access to the Context View, Wikipedia applet, and Lyric applet (all of which I actually like). The problem is that while I like what's in the middle pane, I don't like them being there constantly, and I see no reason why anyone actually needs any of these three to be visible at the same time as anything that currently resides within the left pane. So why can't the Context View be a tab called 'Context View' in the left pane? At the resolution I'm using, there's more than enough space for a fifth tab, and Context View simply feels like it belongs there. That's where its predecessor was in Amarok 1.4, and I think it was a massive mistake to ever move it.
Additionally, resizing the middle pane is not a solution at all. I can make it smaller or make it completely invisible, but when I open anything in the left pane, it returns! Then when I close the left pane, the middle pane goes back to the default size! Why can't the middle pane remember what size I made it? I swear Amarok 2 is the most amnesiac program I have ever used. I end up not using anything in the left pane for fear that I'll have to get the middle pane back to the size I want it to be. Even if nothing else I suggest in this topic is implemented, this one is an absolute necessity. Actually, I'm not even sure why I'm here. Everything I've seen and heard tells me the middle pane will remain exactly where it is and the developers will never implement my main suggestion of killing the damn thing no matter how much sense it makes, but I'm saying this anyway. If you know how I feel on this matter, feel free to make yourself heard.
