For each extra question mark you made, we will add one month. Plus the "linux" thing... Let's make it 5 months, for a nice round number.
Pasta are good, though

..do you know what happens when there isn't functionality in an app?
= people use something else.. if developers code and aren't customer focused nobody is going to be interested in their work. if i (or anyone else) have to keep using iTunes (on ms windows) to get something working I am never going to move totally to linux. capeesh! |

Go complain to Apple for making their hardware proprietary and caging them into proprietary and undocumented firmware, trying everything to prevent people to use their stuff on Linux, not the other way round
Or even better, buy better hardware that does support Linux. You are just blaming the wrong people. If it were that easy it would have been done quite some time ago. You could also pay developers to work on this, this might speed up the process... or generally read what Free Software is about and how development works. It for sure doesn't work by complaining and blaming people who already do hard work everyday.

FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

BTW, what are you missing in amarok 2? Ipod Support is not perfect yet, but the only really important thing works: Getting music on the Ipod. For every other feature, xevix may need as much time as he needs.

i guess all that can be done is playback - if you can ind what you're looking for when the default is to plonk all tracks in a long list. thanks |

Dont understand. My IPOD Tracks are displayed the same way as the tracks in my local collection. Searchable, sortable, no problem at all. Please specify. |

..so all "this hard work" and I am still dependant on windoz.. linux developers know very well what they are up against, nobody is saying developers aren't working hard but the issue is perhaps working on the nice new "projects" without any regard for the bigger picture.. and the libs and / or methods to access the ipod database have been around for yrs now. thanks in advance for amarok, when will come the time when i can access albums, compilations & artists as I do on the actual ipod ? Thanks |

hold an ipod in front of you, see the menu "structure" / layout, when will i be able to access them in amarok with the same ease ? |

I guess, when it's done! If that is so much important for you, why don't you simply use GTKPod for the IPOD stuff, until Amarok is able to fully handle it. Remember that in Amarok 1.4 it took so much longer time to get basic IPOD support than it took in 2.0. To cry "But I get forced to stay with Windows" is far from reality. GTKpod supports all what you want. Plus: Please remember, that the one who is developing the IPOD handling afaik doesn't own an IPOD (iirc) so that the work that he has done yet is not that bad. Rather give support than blaming. |

Mine does not even show up in the device list (local, CDs and USB drive show correctly) even if it is mounted in /mnt.
What is wrong with mine? I don't use HAL anymore, I guess it is related, but SOLID still see much of my devices (probably with pure udev). Why isn't my iPod showing? I think the KDE3 iPod KIO should be ported to KDE4 to avoid iFuse. There is a gvfs backend, so it can be done.

Please all, have a look here:
http://wp.me/pKriD-9 Also, if you want to blame somebody, please complain to Apple, they made their hardware closed and undocumented and forces reverse engineering. Or even better, don't buy their stuff

So, it look like the article is right, iFuse mount (for iPod touch and iPhone) are not deteced. Is there a way to add them to SOLID? Hardcoded or Dynamaic. I mean add to solid code "/mnt/ipod/ is a mass storage device by apple cord device id ***** and vendor id *****"?

yes gtkpod works great for me, a little fussing getting it recognized but the pclinuxos forum helped with that. forget that windblows stuff, untill you actually go cold turkey from ms you dont know what you personally are capable of learning in linux. ms free for 2 yrs.
