For a long time, I'm a J-River Mediacenter user. On the other hand, I'd like to turn away from windows. The major reason, to use a vmware based windows-version is a missing high-end music-player for Linux.
I think, Amarok started on the right track, but today, it's more or less a tool to play music, not to organize it. Listed below, some features I rate as "nice to have features" with Amarok: Features for playback: 1. Crossfade files during playing the playlist. 2. Skip portions of silence at beginning and end of file Features to organize files 3. Access to all tags (not only a few) 4 Automatically generated playlists for last_played, last_imported files, since this helps to maintain the Database clean. 5. Tools to generate replay-gain values out of program. 6. Tools to maintain the library (like renaming, moving etc) Eg: setting rules for the directory tree (basic path + file-depending path from the tags: /Home/Udo/Music/Flac/Anne Murray/New Kind Of Feeling and for the filename generated from tag-values: Anne Murray - For No Reason At All - 06 - New Kind Of Feeling.Flac 7. Free definable look of the library-window |

i'd like to add freedb lookup to the list! and mass reading tags from filenames or text input. and an "open containing folder" button when right clicking a song which starts dolphin with the file marked. |

Hi bcooksley,
if this shouldn't be posted here, what is this forum all about? |

The point is that we have a wishlist on http://bugs.kde.org which is the best way to trace these individual items. It also gives you the possibility to subscribe to the individual wishlist items (remember, one single item per wish only) and get immediately noticed when the feature is reacted upon by the developers.
Having feature requests in more than one place is simply not something one can handle, the forum structure doesn't allow to combine this with the development method, the bug tracker does. As for the purpose of the forum: it is mainly thought for support, be this for individual users or developers of scripts. If you want your wishes to be taken into account, file them on http://bugs.kde.org Talking about those in the forum is useless, since it is not the place the developers are going to look for. Don't forget to actually search the existing wishes before submitting any or yours.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |
