1) I don't really like the new (Main) toolbar as it's not very intuitive - imagine what your girlfriend (who rarely uses Amarok) would do if you told her to go and change the track to the next one or turn down the volume.
2) Slim toolbar was becoming very fancy some versions ago, but now it's being treated like a stupid little brother of the Main toolbar. I mean especially the volume bar which is now replaced with a really **** one (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=230933). 3) I'd like to be able to combine my own toolbar from elements that are currently used for the 2 static ones. Any more thoughts on these 2 toolbars?

I like the new main toolbar And I do not use slim version - so there is no opinion from my side.

Atrox, are you sure you are not confusing names of the toolbars? The Slim toolbar is not exactly new ...
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

1. The new toolbar is NOT the slim toolbar. The slim toolbar is old. I find both of them equally easy to use. Why do you bring in a sexist comment? 2. The main toolbar is lovely, and what I use. Since I have a mouse wheel, I find the main toolbar volume control intuitive and smooth as silk. Usually I use the main KDE volume control instead when the phone rings, etc. 3. Go for it. Build from git and go wild. Explore your music, Valorie |

Haha, what? No criticism allowed? Or did I just misunderstand your question? |

Of course constructive criticism is allowed, and very welcome. But calling something a "stupid little brother" can appear a bit insulting, I hope you understand

Well, I was not calling anything stupid little brother. I was making a comparison. |

I take exception to your using your girlfriend as your example of a ignorant user, and of denigrating your siblings. Let's keep this friendly and respectful, and focus on the issues, OK? We are all here to help one another. Valorie |

Who exactly did I denigrate? I just know that if something is not 100% clear and intuitive, users are bewildered - I see it all the time. And even I had to experiment with the new toolbar to get it (and I actually didn't before reading some comments about its usage). |

Right, could we go back on topic, please?
@Atrox: maybe just avoiding potentially insulting terms could help, since those have nothing to do in a constructive criticism. Why not rethinking your wording? Calling the toolbar a poor parent instead of stupid little brother maybe? And FWIW, both toolbars are made by different developers and it highly depends on the developer availability if changes are applied. The developer of the Slim Toolbar considers is probably to be complete, I will ask him. @Valoriez: don't take offense at the example with a girlfriend not being a regular Amarok user, this is absolutely plausible, in my case it could be my father, brother or sister. I have yet to see a man who takes offense if I use a father or brother or even boyfriend as an example (well, the boyfriend in my case is maybe a *very* bad example). He didn't call her stupid as far as I can see or made any other sexist remark. Expecting that only gender neutral friends are around in examples is a bit much, don't you think? * Mamarok ponders to use her boyfriend as an example in the future

Yeah, I used "my girlfriend" example basing on my everyday-life, not did I mean that all girls are **** or anything
But OK, I'll try avoiding "bad" words as it seems some people are quite sensitive to them. |

Just for fun (don't take it too seriously, or maybe do, if you wish), take a look at these two links:

Markey: I already asked people to go back on topic, please do not add unnecessary things to it, you are the one not being on topic anymore. The problem was solved before your post
