On my notebook i have a small collection on the internal disk and a bigger one on a external disk (which isn't always connected..) (amarok 2.3.0 - kde4.4.1)
I have added the internal collection to the "Local Collection" in the settings and cached once (now it is only re-cached when i tell amarok to..) The external collection gets recognized as seperate one (see: http://img231.imageshack.us/i/amarok.png/ ) but amarok always scans the entire external disk each time i plug it in (which takes much more then 10 minutes) and doesn't store it in it amarok's database, so it will scan it again the next time i plug it in Adding the external collection to "local collection" isn't a solution as i would have 99,9% dead files in my local collection when the external drive isn't plugged in and scanning the entire disk is also no solution as it takes a lot of time to do so and also causes a huge cpu-load and is not needed as the files in the external collection only change once a month or even less.. |

There seems to be a bug in the Dynamic Collection feature, and I think we already have a report for it.
Maybe do a search on http://bugs.kde.org
