I have just upgraded Amarok to 2.3.2 yet it still doesn't play CDs in an acceptable fashion. It beggars belief that it has taken so long to get the same functionality that was present in the 1.4.x series. Exaile and Banshee have no such issues so what is the problem? I am currently using Linux Mint Isadora and Kubuntu.

what does "in an acceptable fashion" mean to you? Please be more specifc in why it isn't acceptable, and how you think it should work. Otherwise it is very hard to do anything about it.

If a CD is already in the drive and you start Amarok it just doesn't see it, opening the drive and shutting it again sometimes works. Amarok1.4.x, Exaile and Banshee have no such issues, hence it must be down to the new Amarok. Each release seems to behave differently so it's hard to see what's going on here. I have reported this issue on several occasions but it never seems to get any better, when you think of some of the very clever things that Amarok can do, it just seems to me that this is a fairly trivial problem to fix. By the way, I notice that you are using Suse, have you tried playing CDs and does it work for you? |

Yes, it works fine for me - and I don't see that problem with amarok not even seeing the disc if it was already present when amarok was launched (admittedly, since amarok runs in the systray from the moment I log in I had to "force" the situation where that behavior might show itself).

It would be nice if somebody who also uses Kubuntu or Linux Mint 9 to say if Amarok works with CDs.

I find it hard to understand why Amarok is not tested with the various distros, so when I state that it doesn't work with Kubuntu and Mint somebody ought to be able to tell me why?
