How do I display total number of tracks, albums artists ? I think it used to be displayed in the lower left corner of the bottom status bar.

You have to install a script named "Rating Statistics".

in 2.4beta in the recently played applet there's counts for tracks, albums and genre but not artists count

I think you misunderstood the question, Ratings have nothing to do with the playlist track count.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Well, yes, but it doesn't add anything to the status bar. This should be filed as a wish.
