I'm running Amarok 2.3.0 under Ubuntu Lucid and want to automatically rescan the entire collection (80K+ titles) nightly. My guess is that a cron job calling a line something similar to this might work:
qdbus org.kde.amarok /Collection ? My questions are: 1. Is this the best way? 2. If so, where/how I might find documentation to find which property to set? TIA, Dave |

I strongly suggest you upgrade to Amarok 2.4, as there has been a lot of changes in the collection scanner since 2.3.0
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Is 2.4 available for Lucid? http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/Download:Kubuntu#Amarok_2.4 specifies 10.10+.

Apparently not: http://www.kubuntu.org/news/amarok-24
But you can update to 2.3.2, it contains many bugfixes compared to 2.3.0 you currently run: http://www.kubuntu.org/news/amarok-232-backports-ppa

I've upgraded to 2.3.2, but have the same question - how can I schedule the collection to be rescanned daily as a cron job? Is there a command-line switch that can be used or is there a QDBUS call that I can make?
