Controlling the 'player'

Fri Aug 26, 2011 12:09 pm
I have only started using Amarok, but it is the only 'player' that I have
used where I had to look to find the buttons to 'play', 'pause', 'stop', etc.

To pause, I must go to the 'Amarok' drop down menu and select it and then select my action. This is fine but this is such a frequently used action, that the 'standard' player controls should be prominently displayed on the Amarok main window. Also, new users are forced to search for the play control
buttons - it definitely not obvious that the control buttons are under a drop down button named 'Amarok'.

I can see a lot of potential for Amarok. Keep up the great work.

If you have no buttons being displayed then something is not right, if you have a single button then you need to understand that Amarok uses a play/pause paradigm with the play button as it is used to both play and pause a track (the drop down even reads "play/pause") if you wish a more traditional button set change to the slim toolbar with view -> slim toolbar

If there are no buttons can you post a copy of what your Amarok window looks like and can you login as a different user to see if this occurs there also.

this is what it should look like, either:
- http://simplest-image-hosting.net/png-0-a10 (mail toolbar)
- http://simplest-image-hosting.net/png-0-a20 (slim toolbar)
depending on which you are using

There was a bug in an old version of Amarok which caused it to start without the toolbar visible. Select main or slim toolbar from the view menu.

I have a screen shot, but I don't see a way to attach it or to upload it.

I just saw Sentynel's response. That does the trick. Thank you!
