Hi,
I've recently compiled a current GIT version of Amarok and sadly I have to say I was a little disappointed from the very moment I launched it. I believe the creator of the new splash screen tried to do his best in order to make it but I think he has got, maybe unconsciously maybe not, inspired by the American Idol artwork. I was never too interested in this show, but the concept of the performer's silhouette in front of audience with raised hands really rang the bell for me. The blue colour is helping too. In conclusion I don't think it would be good for Amarok to use this splash screen. Following pictures would be nice examples: http://roozbeh.us/pix/2010/03/amarok-splash-3.png http://image.gamespotcdn.net/gamespot/images/bigboxshots/7/933077_75645_front.jpg |

Well, you associate this with an American Idol Karaoke application, others do associate it with iPods, I associate this with concert pictures from the seventies
Just because others use similar images, I don't see how you actually could represent artists on a stage and a public applauding. I don't think American Idol or anybody else has exclusivity on such pictures. We have been using the blue color in KDE and Amarok long before the picture on that Karaoke box existed.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Nicely said Mamarok!
@Rupikulko: There's actually a (small) pool of images that the devs choose from for new releases. If you have an idea for a cool splash image let us know . |

Me neither. I just think more people will notice these associations as the new version will be released and they will probably question the originality of the Amarok's splash, which would place its developers to an awkward position. I think a couple of years ago there was a similar issue between OpenOffice.org and Adobe Acrobat splash screens.
I know that, I've just said it makes this particular similarity easier to notice.
For example, every previous one seemed cool to me |

You are aware that you comment on a thread that is more than a year old, do you?
