Google shows krita.org as malicious

Sun Apr 08, 2012 4:00 pm
I visited the official Krita website a couple of days ago and noticed that google had blacklisted the page and claimed that it contained malicious software. I ignored the message and went on with my visit; I had seen such server errors before so it wasn't a big deal. I had thought that the message would disappear in some time, but it seems that it hasn't. I got the same message today again after I tried visiting the page. In addition , every page in the krita.org domain is listed as dangerous on the search results. Here are some screenshots

Now I'm not freaked out or something; I perfectly know that krita.org does NOT host malware. What I'm really concerned about is that this might scare new people who might be interested in Kirta who would want to check it out, only to find its official site blacklisted. It would be a big waste of the resources spent on promoting Krita. And trust me, people trust google.

So can something be done about it? May be contact google and tell them about the error?

Yes, we know... We're working really hard to fix the issues. First we were hacked, then we thought we had fixed the damage, then there turned out to be links to a malware site still, so now we're redoing the website from scratch and are trying to go through google's bureaucracy to get the listing lifted...

And all this the week before the 2.4 release!

It's keeping me awake at night :-(

That's really sad. I hope this doesn't affect the release audience too much. It'd be sad if some petty malware hullbaloo discouraged people to look up krita. Thanks to you and all the devs for all the hard work

Site has been completely rebuilt from scratch, so no more nasties there now. Google says it may take "Up to a day" before the warnings are removed, so fingers crossed for the launch.

The new site is a prototype of a new site I was planning on launching later, so it has some nice new design aspects, and also some parts that are pretty unfinished. We're working to port all our old content over asap, but for the moment, we have a site. It's clean and up to date, and now we're going to be able to add new features! \o/ (Look for Diaspora integration already making it's way in!)

Yay Krita 2.4 releases tomorrow!!!

The site looks great (I really like the showcase bar at the top). Oh and the new brush editor looks amazing. Thanks to everyone for working so hard for Krita 2.4 and bringing back the site.

Thanks Theotenai,

Still a lot of improvements planned. I wasn't actually planning on launching for a month or so, but the timing was right. anyway, glad you like what we have so far!

Yes, I can see some features are still missing (a link to this forum for exemple ^^), and I know what we see is just the visible part of the iceberg a website represents but just visualy, it's really nice : the banner (color and texture), the showcase, the clean Krita logo with just the I with a brush effect. Clean and professional.
