Design a splash screen for Krita 2.5

Mon May 14, 2012 11:24 am
Quite soon already, hot on the heels of 2.4, Krita 2.5 will be released. We're expecting the release in July, in fact. Lots of fun new things and lots of bugfixes will be included. And all that has to be celebrated of course, with a nice, new, fresh splash screen! Let's reuse the basic template created by Kubuntiac to provide continuity. Please post your designs in this thread!

Where is the template of the new "gray" version?
I found only the "black" one... :)

It would be great to get some images that would go well with the dark template this time around. Last time, quite a few people wanted a dark splash, but it just didn't fit with the winning painting that was chosen. A nice dark themed painting with the dark template would make a bunch of people happy, which is what we all want, right? :)

(That said a mind bogglingly awesome painting with light colors wouldn't be turned away... ;) )

Oh, that's cool! You're the first to submit an entry :-). Let's hope more artists follow suit, the release process has started -- we branch 2.5 on Friday already.

Very good entries already!

Kargall: I like the one with the tear too, but I agree for a splashscreen this version is probably better.

That gets my vote for the next splash-screen, but I prefer the "tear" version indeed! ;D
Kargall, I really love your art and style! Which technique do you use for blending your paintings? They're so smooth! :)

I love both the girl with the paintbrush and the girl with the color hair. For Kargall's girl, I think it might be really cool to use both versions, and then show the one with the tear once in every while, just to keep the users on their toes :-) That would be interesting to do for me as well :-)

I've pushed the tear/non tear randoms selection to 2.5. I'm wondering when people will notice it :-). I would really like to use the girl with the paint brush for git master.

WOW! I love this one! The girl with the paintbrush is good, too, but this one is just... wow...

I think that's the best one too until now, I might try to do something "splashy"....
One thing: I really think that the "Krita" text in the splash screen should be the same as the logo used in Krita.org. I think it would look better and more consistent with everything.
