Seeking to find a program that can paint the way I am looking for, I was directed to Krita. The download page explicitly states the unsurity of how well the windows version will function, and asks for feedback on the windows experience.
Well, I just downloaded Krita and I am here to offer feedback on the windows experience. Windows XP Professional version 2002 Service pack 3 First of all, the installer DID NOT allow me to specify a directory. It let me see all four of my hard drives but would not allow me to specify a drive, let alone any specific place on that drive. It also didn't bother asking permission to add a desktop icon. I am EXTREMELY unhappy about this, and were it not for my great frustration in trying to create the paint effects I want (GIMP: You get what you pay for.) and dearth of other options I would have stopped right there and refused to install. Next, when I actually had the program running, the window that popped up was too big to fit properly on my screen. The window filled the whole vertical resolution of my monitor (1280 x 1024) and so the bottom of the window was blocked by the taskbar. I was easily able to correct this by moving the window to my other monitor so I could reach the bottom of the window to resize it, but it is inconvenient and any persons who don't know a few simple-yet-obscure options within windows would be incapable of resizing the window, and thus would always have the bottom obscured by the taskbar. I know these seems like small and meaningless details, but when users find such details to be off they really question the quality of the product. the only other issues that I have noticed so far is that the program takes a bit of time when it is given commands to create a new document or save a new document. I'll report any other concerns I find. |

Thanks for your feedback. We want to improve the installer to allow to select an installation drive, but we simply haven't had time for that yet. The same goes for window size management. We will be working on this, though.
