First off, hats off to the Krita team for creating such an amazing software that rivals Corel Painter :)

edit: I'm new to this forum. Should I have put this in General Help instead? My apologies in advance...

I'm currently transitioning to Krita for personal projects coming from Win 7 and PS. With this first project that I'm doing, I needed to finish an artwork first done in PSD. What sold me on Krita is the dynamic brush resizing achieved by holding shift+drag pen (ala PS, Artrage, Painter), this is just not possible with current versions of GIMP and MyPaint. Imagine my disappointment when doodling around, I found that dynamic brush resizing doesn't work properly on opened PSD files e.g., I need to be zoomed out all the way to see the resizing when I shift+drag. Even then, the resizing is done in small increments.

At first I thought this is the norm but after creating a new KRA file inside Krita, I found that dynamic brush resizing works flawlessly. Note that saving/exporting .PSD to .KRA doesn't fix this.

My current workaround is to:
a) export .psd to .ora. Restart Krita
b) open .ora. Test dynamic brush resizing. It works flawlessly
c) export .ora to .kra. Restart Krita
d) work with that .kra instance. Proceed with painting fun.

I'm on Kubuntu 12.10 and Krita 2.5.3 (installed just 3 days ago), fully updated as of the timestamp. PSD created using CS6 with maximum compatibility checked.

Outch... You've found a bug. I can easily reproduce it, the problem is that we somehow mis-read the resolution information inside the PSD. One PSD I just tried has a resolution of 21,600 -- and that plays havoc with the brush resizing. Could you join bugs.kde.org and make a bug for it? If that's too much trouble, I can do that, but then you cannot track the resolution easily.

Oh, never mind -- I just fixed the bug :-). The fix will be in 2.6 and later.
