I liked Krita Sketch(New metro style touch optimised version of krita). It has improved lasso tool,I believe.
but my issue is it only supports 10000 * 10000 Image size in pixels. In car designing with all side, front and rear profiles, including headlamp details,Tail Lamp details on same single canvas, you need at best 30000*17000 image size in Pixels. Are there any plans to increase image size further? Krita 2.5.9 desktop version already supports more than 30000 * 30000 pixels (Its actually around unthinkable 100,000,000 x 100,000,000)Image size, but it has problems with lasso tool, which I believe would be improved in next versions. Krita Sketch is open Source Software, which can become best sketching software, because it is governed by demands and needs of community. So I am representing car designing community who wants to use Krita for their professional work. Its difficult to work on single profile on a single page.Sometimes, the details in these designs are very delicate (For example, the side indicator lamps on Mercedes-Benz C-Class are very detailed).Well, this is not at all a problem with Desktop version of Krita, but young generation like me really like Metro style apps like Krita Touch. My advice would be setting up maximum Image size of Krita Touch as 30000 (Length)* 20000 (Height) Pixels (Landscape Mode Only),which is sufficient enough for most car designers, who want to do a very detailed precision work.I understand that Metro style apps have more Technical limitations than Desktop Softwares. Thanks! Happy painting. Note for Users using Krita, not Krita Sketch:Even if you have a powerful CPU,restrict canvas size to 32000 * 32000 pixels only, not exceeding it.I have never tried more than 30000 * 17000 Pixels in Krita. |

Well, we created sketch for a particular hardware profile: ultrabooks and tablets. Those devices don't really have the power to handle such big images, but we felt that didn't matter, since there's Krita for the desktop as well, where the bigger hardware you have, the more fun.

Thanks a lot,but I surely want to see improved lasso tool in Desktop version of Krita. You might have already seen my other post, viewtopic.php?f=137&t=109113 Please consider a better lasso tool.As a car designer,I am finding difficulty in giving shading and light effects over new layers with Inaccurate Lasso tool in Krita. I would definately call Inaccuracy of Lasso tool in Krita 2.5.9 as a design fault or a big design bug.In fact Improper lasso tool is forcing me to buy Howler PD or ACD Pro See which do not come even close to Krita when it comes to the quality of Strokes.Certainly these other softwares have only good Lasso tool.Qualitatively they are not worth the money we pay to buy them. The only round way as a alternative option is to use Krita 2.5.9 for sketching and use ACD Pro see or Howler PD for lasso selection on new layer and airbrushing to give shades or light effects.Certainly this is time consuming to save, close your artwork and open the same in other Application simply to use lasso tool and to give shading effects as needed. But yes,I love Krita Sketch, you can't get any better free Metrostyle Sketching app as of now in the app stores.I can use Krita sketch for Invention documentation or documentation of new ideas (not related to car designs) efficiently in Krita sketch.

Hm... Didn't Sven already fix the accuracy problem in the lasso tool? I'm not sure he backported it to the 2.6 branch already. It should end up in the release in any case. I need to find time to make up to date windows packages for Krita 2.6 RC1, too. What's now up for download is pretty old.

Thanks Dude, I would really like to try the new version,as soon as possible. KDE team is Genious.I love all apps KDE offers.I would also like to try upcomming Calligra's vector drawing app Two things I want to suggest in Calligra Karbon is a maximum Image size of atleast 30000 * 30000 pixels and also the Gradient mesh tool. Then I will not need to buy Adobe Web and Design premium Student edition suite.I have not tried the unstable version, since I am not a software Enginiering expert and would not like any dangerous bugs on my PC.Let the stable version be released and then I would download the whole Calligra suite. |
