I sincierly request Krita Developers to look into this matter.
[bug]Intermediate intensity in slow strokes over complicated curves is a big bug for car designers.[/bug] Please please, look in to this! I hope that this complain will not annoy Krita team.I believe that its important to realise problems in ourselves,so that we all get better things with no or less further problems.I want to make Krita much friendlier to Car designers, and preferred choice for product designers or car designers. |

1. Make a selection
2. Top menu: Select -> Feather Selection. Don't be afraid to choose a huge value, like 20 or the likes. 3. Take one huge brush, preferably one that can cover the entire selection, and click over the selection just once. If you paint more over it, the less transparent areas will start to get painted over more. You get something like this: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/546/61855505.png/ |

Thanks a lot,I would try out this on my dad's laptop once he reaches home!Hope its works fine!
Cool! Here are some pics of car designing,so Krita developers will get some more idea, what Car designers want! These are not my sketches. My sketches are not yet revealed because I as of now dream to take it to production, better kept secret. http://www.flickr.com/photos/68155016@N ... 295212916/ In few pics, you would notice many different profile views of car designs on one single canvas. Here are three most interesting pics in the Same Flickr set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/68155016@N08/8290254355/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/68155016@N08/8290254601/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/68155016@N08/8291313196/ I find this interesting: http://youtu.be/VJeQR9pJXZ4 http://youtu.be/fzqZyR0dc-g

Hm... I see. I tend to do anything geometric-like with Inkscape, using gradients, blurring, clipping and such (though, I've still never done cars). Examples by other people:
http://x24r0c57.deviantart.com/art/Her- ... y-96226870 http://lubinescence.deviantart.com/art/ ... r-42107743 Krita can do some vectors too, but isn't specialized in them. That said, Krita's drawing tools are at least more precise and easier to use than Gimp's. Anyway, the "feather selection" method should help you produce decent shading. |

Thanks a lot for all helpful inputs!
I would definately try car designing on vector softwares, but Pixel based softwares are more easier to work with.Only thing needed is proper airbrushing. In pixel based softwares, designer can focus more on ideas, where as Vector designing is another type of art in itself where designer should have both vector editing as well as design ideas generating skills. I would prefer using Vector softwares for Interiors so that we can give metal or wood finishes or 3D effects in interiors where ever needed.sometimes, wooden finish in dashboard needs Gradient mesh for good shading effects.

Hi,problem solved.
Steps to solve the problem: 1)Select the first brush option in pixel brush in brush editor. Its image is displayed in the brush options menu. The first brush option is vissible as tight airbrush. 2)When you generally select pixel brush in brush editor,Airbrush mode is setup as default. You have to Unclick "Airbrush". 3)In the Brush Dialog, select Brush Tip and adjust spacing. The concept of spacing in Krita is slightly different than that in Photoshop or ArtRage. If you are regular Artrage or PS user, you will come to know what I mean by adjusting this in krita, since the adjusted brush is displayed in the dialog box. 4)Start using airbrush. If airbrush mode is not unclicked, you will continue to get problem of intermediate high intensity as points on stroke. Unclicking on Airbrush only switches off some airbrush related parameters, but it does not change to some other brush. The brush remains as Airbrush or in simpler words, strokes are visible as Tight Airbrush Strokes. Conclusion is,Krita may have world's best brush editing features, but brush editing in Krita is far more complex than that in Photoshop,Artrage, etc. Once you have habit, its really easy. This type of brush is well suitable for product designers or car designers who want to give shadings or light effects . If you want to save this customised brush, after clicking on autobrush button under "Brush" Dialog box, draw a stroke on a plain canvas, then simply click on Brush tip under Brush Dialog box,and then click on Custom Brush, then give a name.Adjust spacing option and then click on "Add to Presets" or "Save to Presets",whichever is visible. You may need to uninstall or reinstall you software completely. So I recomend that you save the airbrush drawn on a small canvas seperately as a photo or painting file. For car designers and product designers, If you are still not at all happy with the customised airbrush you created in Krita, you can create it in Sketchbook Pro or Photoshop. The airbrush in Sketchbook Pro is very different in its texture and feel, and well suitable for shading effects. You can download free student versions of Autodesk softwares by registering as a student account in Autodesk Community. It's fairly easy to get Student version of sketchbook pro though as of now.You just have to choose any college name in a particular city. When I signed up online for free student membership, that time I was not asked for student identification also.Surprisingly unlike most or all other student versions of Autodesk Softwares,I didn't found any Watermark in saved files done with or modified with Student edition of sketchbook pro. Once you have created a brush in Sketchbook Pro,just save it as a file and open file in Krita, then just follow the instructions on: http://youtu.be/wnol3izUXvA (Thanks for the video Tutorial by Deevad.) Happy Painting!!!

Spray brush in Krita does what other applications call airbrush.

But Spray brush has too much large spacings between particles. In car designing,we do shading as light effects, wherein so much spacing is not suitable. However, easy solutions to this problem is are as mentioned in my last comment.
When can I expect Windows version of your next Krita version,2.6 on dowload page?I want to try newly improved lasso tool as been indicated by other KDE developers in my discussions. |

The feathering method definately works out well in some cases.Actually in some cases, its more precise than that of airbrushing!I have tried it.You cannot use it everywhere, but at many places it works out very well. Its less tedious than Airbrushing. Thanks a lot to valerievk
Sometimes, you need to give only one side shading and other side should not be shaded. In this case airbrush can be used in a way that the approximate centre of a airbrush would pass through one side of a lasso selection if lasso selection is assumed to be a rectangle.
Ya I understood that its not a big bug when its comes to coding, when it comes to airbrush Dynamics. But it's not easy to use it unless and untill you try all settings for 15-20 days, especially the adjustment of Curves. You need to select appropriate Brush(A appropriate Airbrush shaped brush),adjust spacings(whose meaning is completely different from that in most painting softwares )and other parameters ,and most importantly Unusual to hear but Needs Unclicking /unticking of Airbrush option in Brush tip section of brushes Dialog. Anyway,I liked the brush editor, because the brush editing is intended for technical oriented Professional painters or car designers like me.But Krita is definately not a software for people demanding everything instantaneously from software. Conclusion is that the big bug in airbrush dynamics is not very technical issue, but the bug in Airbrush dynamics is that its not a software for a layman.Hence its rightly said over the (new,Newly designed I think)Krita website as follows: Krita Sketch: touch-based painting for ultrabooks and tablets Krita Desktop: the artist's mainstay Krita Studio: HDR painting for the movie and VFX industry.(Commercial) Even it is emphasised over one of my thread that Krita Sketch is for fun and more easy to use for non-proffesional hobbyists and hence it is not supported with more than 10000 * 10000 pixels canvas size as of now compared to very large canvas size capability of Krita Desktop. |

To have less space between the particles decrease the size or increase the particle count.

Thanks a lot!I will give it a try.
There are so many excellent options in Krita.Never seen any other app like this. This is truely a revolution in 2D painting industry.Congrats for making such a great app.But please consider improvement in precision in Lasso or selection tools. |

Well, increasing the particle count does not give a pattern that is needed for shading in car body profiles..The solutions I suggested as well as in some particular cases, suggested by valerievk actually worked out satisfactory!
Anyway,thanks a lot for valuable information. |

Yeah, Spray Brush and Airbrush work a bit differently. But I'm glad you seem to have found the appropriate solutions for your tasks!

Thanks a lot everyone here for their valuable contribution.
however,I think Krita Community needs a good User guide for brush editing, especially for tweaking the curves used for tweaking parameters, like Pressure, opacity, etc. Although some interesting info is available in online tutorial or online user guide, for brush Editing, its definately not sufficient,as it actually misses a detailed discussion on different types of Curves editing. Please everyone here, consider a good tutorial relating to this matter. So when Krita team is planning a commercial version of Krita called Krita Studio[All tools for painting will be still free of cost in Krita Desktop and Krita Sketch,Krita studio is for movie and GFX studios( http://kogmbh.com/krita/studio.html )],its high time when Krita needs a well updated User guide in PdF format. No proffersional customer is fool to buy a software which does not have a well detailed proper user guide,Especially for Curves) There is no mention of what X-Axis is about and what Y-Axis is about in every curve.Only low and high, these two words are mentioned. How to understand this sign language? Is X-Axis pressure variation or is Y-Axis pressure variation? Is X-Axis size variation or Y-Axis size variation? The best way to find this out as of now is to try tweaking these parameters yourself and see what happens. But a proper tutorial will work really better. These parameters are needed to be mentioned clearly on the curves. |
