^ Mad lurking skills. Apart from the changelog, you can get information from Krita.org, the mailing list, or the IRC channels (deevad noted the importance of the experiment brush in his workflow in the IRC channels, and that's why the devs started improving it). Oh yes, and I'm also using the latest development version. The experiment brush right now has a slider for smoothing, so it's, well, smoother. Hmm, for "non-zero" fill rule, I suggest submitting a feature request for that, it shouldn't be hard to implement. Also, some time ago I volunteered to help write the new Join page, as well as help write or update the Sponsored Work sections on the wiki. I got permission to shake out quite a lot of information from Dmitry back then. I don't know about the wacom standalone tablet, sorry. Come to think of it, if we get a volunteer that's good at marketing, it'd be awesome if that person could contact various tablet vendors to get tablets and such to help with development. |

So... I noticed Dimitry's ppa has been added to the download list?
I use Linux Mint 14, so I figured I could use it, and indeed the terminal happily installed the package. But now I have no idea how to actually open the application, clicking on Krita just results in the old (2.6.1) krita opening. EDIT: NVM, I had to log out and in again to get it working. Lovely GUI work, a little slow on start-up. Now to figure out to get my brushes back into it. |

@TheraHedwig: You first need to uninstall the old krita version, the 2.6.1, then install the one from Dmitry's PPA.

I did that too, thanks for warning The brushes seem to be under project-neon instead of .kde now, just mentioning this as it doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere else. Also, thank you for the 'external file'-layer. I tried using it for comics and it works beautifully. (There's some minor usability bugs, but no crashes, I'll be reporting them in a bit). You can now have a workflow where you can import a thumbnail from a pdf. Make each panel a seperate layer and export them, then import them as external files, position them correctly(or use a combination of layergroup with transparency mask, alpha inheritance isn't possible right now), and save the layout. Then you can edit the panel files seperately, and if you used a format like .kra or .ora, you can work with layers as well, resulting in a much more distraction-free workflow. (And in my case, I can switch the file between Krita and MyPaint without losing Krita-specific information, like vector layers, groups or text. Allowing me to use both programs to their best advantage) It takes a bit of file-wrangeling, but comics do need this in most cases anyway. The only way how I could see a more efficient workflow is one where you'd draw the panels seperately first, then do layout compositioning(so you don't have to export and make an external link to a file), but then you'd be fighting with the sizes a lot. |

I'm a little bit confused, the news says Krita 2.8 was released, but then it says it will be available at the end of the month? So... can I download 2.8 on Linux already or we have to wait a little bit longer?

Only a beta has been released. God knows where you can get it though. (Kubuntu repositories?) The official release will be at the end of this month, and hopefully it will be with a ton(if you can even get a ton out of the current buglist) more of bugfixes. |

Hi, I just want to say first that even though I only recently discovered Krita, I am absolutely in love with it. I finally got it working without any crashes anymore (I think something was just messed up when I tried installing it the first time & deleting the appdata folder solved it completely!)
& I've only even used a small fraction of the tools so far, but even so, it's in my top 10 favorite pieces of software ever (currently I have a LOT of favorites, & it's VERY hard to pick ones I love the most, but this makes that list without a single hesitation) & I have at least 80 different programs of all kinds, commercial or free, open source or not, etc. installed currently & try new ones all the time. Being disabled by a large amount of illnesses & health problems I spend pretty much every moment I'm awake on my computer, so I definitely have enough time to try a lot of software & I'm always looking for something new & awesome that I can either have a lot of fun with or be extremely productive with or is a utility that I find invaluable.....Krita meets all 3 of those criteria btw..... I know it was a post from last year, but I really also agree & think that Wacom should include this with their tablets. It's SO much better than anything that has ever come bundled with their drawing tablets & I'm sure better than anything that comes with any of their other products. I think maybe if more people were aware of Krita, maybe then there would be more interest in helping develop it so it's not entirely on only a few people's shoulders (unless that's what they/you desire) & so people can contribute awesome things to it. Honestly, I can't see it being possible for it to get much better than this (as in, it's already so amazingly awesome that it has reached the limit) but I am quite sure that it will continue to get better and better anyhow. Thanks for creating such a great piece of software & for making it open source (the way everything should be) & well, just being awesome in general. Can't wait to see what is to come & I will be donating whatever I can manage whenever I can manage it & I will certainly sing loud about how awesome this project is & tell people their life is practically just a sad, lame, boring-ness without it. It's as awesome as pie! <3 |

Hey, what's up? What's going on?
The homepage of Krita is not working anymore (Error #404) |

It should be back up now -- krita.org was migrated to a new server and there were a few complications.

The new website looks nice! However, I can't find the links to Community things (like these forums and IRC). Were they removed, or have I just been looking in the wrong places?

That was moved to the "Get Involved" area of the site.
https://krita.org/get-involved/overview/ That is a good point though about finding the community. Where were you expecting it to be? |
