But you can still test, triage and report bugs! After 2.9.0 will come a 2.9.1 with bug fixes! Just keep building the 2.9 branch and keep giving feedback!

hello. I discovered krita not so long ago, and I'm loving it. Tks for this new release. When I finish some cool artwork made with it, I'll share here in the forums. I'm also new around here. Thank you all for this amazing painting software ;D

I saw some news on official website, but is there anywhere to officially follow the layer styles project, I haven't seen any reports about it in the mailing list.

can we expect it in the next couple of weeks?

Well, you have to hang out on irc or check the occasional updates I post to g+ and twitter and so on. We're working on loading/saving now, so this should go in to 2.9.3, which is for May 1st.

I have been testing that branch past few weeks, but I have been avoiding making a video just yet because there's a minor niggle with the rendering of the bevel I would like to see fixed.(But it proved tricky, so they're first gonna look at the saving/loading.

That said: They are really fast(though, of course, the more layer-styles, the slower it becomes, but two are still realtime on my **** laptop of 4~ years old, and three is with a minor delay). All crashes are fixed, having custom contours is still on the todo list, and as said before they'll first look at saving loading.

Once the little niggle is gone(It's a lighting issue that annoys the bejeezus out of me), I'll make a fancy video where I'll be realtime using them things :)

Thanks for the info guys. Something to look forward to in may.

Btw the latest release (win7 64bit) almost fried my cpu when using blur filters, taking forever. I tried 2.9.2 and didn't get this issue.

I post here because for some reason I can't seem to access the bugtracker atm.

New builds!

Included are some layerstyle fixes, a new hotkey, and new cursors!

Don't forget to test layerstyles super thoroughly! We really need those bug reports!

Also, we may get full PSD blending mode support soon: Dmitry's working on the pass-trhough blending mode, and I added/fixed darker color/lighter color and color burn saving and loading from psds yesterday!

so should this bug be moved to the layerstyle component https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347120

or is it just more difficult to solve (or he missed it?)

Yes, it's a bit more difficult to solve, but we did put it onto the layerstyles todo: https://phabricator.kde.org/tag/krita:_ ... er_styles/

We're just surprised that this is all up till now considering how big the feature is. :p

You live in exciting times if you are planning to move from photoshop... http://quickgit.kde.org/?p=calligra.git ... eadefb1938

Now the primary goal is to test this and get layerstyles in, and we'll have pretty high end PSD compatibility soon.

Great news!

layerstyles are really slow on large files (with a few layers) so I hope optimizations will come after the UI work. Did I read somewhere that they will eventually be useable as masks?

Yes, dmitry still wants to do optimisations on the rendering of them. (As shown in the list)
They'll be usable as masks mostly because PS does that, and this is 100% cloned. It's not sure WHEN though.

Hey guys, first of all, sorry for the double-post (though to be fair the forum isn't that active)

Congrats on reaching the initial goal with kickstarter, it took less people to reach 20,000 compared to the previous campaign, good sign. Gotta say i'm excited to see the progress, consider me an official beta tester :P

btw what is the name of the guy/girl dev that is working on animation? does he/she post on this forum?
