Congratulations on the successful MWC!
I'm surprised that people are still surprised by what can be done with free software. Android is open-source too, no? |

Oh, yes -- but nearly nobody realizes that android is open source, at least not the people one meets at mwc.

^ ... oh. Oh that's true, isn't it. Sad.
Well, I guess it can be viewed in a positive manner, too: Open Source has been doing so well in the software world that people don't realize it's open source anymore? So I guess they're competing based on merit, not on the philosophy? |

Android is open source, but the development is completely closed.

About the recent call to Join Krita: have you tried http://openhatch.org/ ?

Huh, it's the first time I see that, but it seems Krita is already on there. I see Krita bugs in the lists!
Thanks for bringing it up though, I learned something new. |

Ah, now I noticed this even mentions Boud: https://openhatch.org/wiki/Bug_trackers

Just read about the plans for a united library of brushes that can be shared between Gimp, Krita and Mypaint. What a brilliant move! Just awesome!
From Libre Graphics World This is so brilliant, setting up the tiny starting points for a more unified experience between the top illustration programs. Gotta say I am a little bit too happy right now.

I just need to find some hacking time . We made it purposely easy to implement -- though there is still some discussion ongoing about the final form.

I don't know what I'm more excited about, the extended interexchange between opensource painting applications, or the fact that apparantly Michael Natterer managed to keep sigtec developing gimp painter after the poor guy was booed away from the mailing list for working on things that aren't gegl ops.
Still though, super excited. I hope this'll inspire the further development of mypaint's brushengine as well! |

^ *wince* What now? That's harsh. Well if he ever feels like coming over here instead, I'm sure he'll get greeted with open arms.
Krita has lots of exciting improvements up ahead: - Better native filters - GMIC filters - United brush library - I think there was talk of integrating an animation program into Krita too? Krita 2.7 already has lots of improvements too: better smoothing for drawing, super better transformation tool, greyscale masks, better vectors, better brush texturing, better experiment brush, color to alpha, offset mode, lots of optimization, lots of bug fixes. So awesome! |

Well, thankfully, Natterer exploded at the guy responsible for the booing, but Sigtec didn't respond to that thread afterwards, so I was worried he had given up.
Ah, your list makes me nearly unable to wait ;_; . ... Oh well, I've got my renewed interest in 3d modeling to keep me buzy. |

I was just wondering about that rumored Wacom standalone tablet that suppose to show up this summer - how about contacting Wacom directly so Krita would be installed on it by default? That could be massive boost for Krita popularity.
I do admit that this is just my wet dream - standalone tablet made by Wacom that knows what is doing when it comes to digital painting plus Krita working on it. Damn, that would be just ideal... |

I'm looking forward to a lot of this stuff but especially this. I'm hoping that the option for 'nonzero' fill rule (rather than just the common 'odd/even' fill rule currently used) becomes available, as this is much more reliable for laying down predictably-shaped blobs quickly. Actually experimenting with doing this stage of design in GrafX2 (a pixeling, rather than painting app) because it's the only tool that gets contour-fill entirely right. Also, I'd really love to know where you are getting this information? I tried looking for a Changelog and looking at the git logs, but the former was nonexistent and in the latter most feature improvements are hidden in a sea of bugfixes |
