I can't find the Hardware requirements on Krita.org..
This is not important to know for me personally and i am not asking to list them here in the forum. I guess this information should be the first to read in the downloads section. So if it is anywhere and i haven't found it then it is not obvious enough. Browsing to adobe/photoshop via google i found this info with the first click on the website.... So just a pointer to an improvement of the website |

I'm not sure _where_ to put it, or even what to put there. I try to keep Krita working in 1024x768, but that means no big fonts defined by the user and no big panels. Memory requirements should be minimum 4gb. A 64 bits system is preferred. GPU doesn't matter.

Hmm, i don't know - maybe my view is a bit too old fashioned.. thinking of times were i first checked requirements before i installed something
It's true that i rarely do that today, as the relation between hardware and software progress has changed a bit. I recoginized this just because of contacts to younger artists on DA that use sometimes very old hardware... therefor i wanted to check the requirements to just have an answer (or link) at hand if i am asked for it. |

Well, then, let's find the lowest requirement, shall we?
I'm running on a HP tm2 2000ed tablet-pc. Linux Mint 15 64bit. 4gig memory(3.7) i3 (U 330) 1.2 ghz dualcore(with 4 threads in total) dual graphics card setup. -Intel intergrated card -ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5430-5370 Wacom penabled screen(ISD drivers, same as all other tablet-pc solutions from wacom), max resolution 1280x800. Performance review: Krita runs on my device, though feels a little heavy. (This is primarily caused by going from the opening screen to the document takes a bit of time, but during drawing it feels fast enough) Currently running Krita Wraparound, and somehow the OpenGL canvas feels much quicker than it used to, but haven't tested on an illustration yet. Krita's UI does feel a little big, and at times I wished I could make smaller icons or edit the brush-editor to be smaller. So, who thinks they've got a slower computer than me, and Krita still runs(or doesn't, also interesting)? |

In the latest git master, you can hide parts of the brush editor (the preset strip and scratchpad)... The reason Krita feels slow when opening or creating a document is that that is actually the moment all plugins are loaded. This is due to a more than ten year old design decision in the KDE frameworks... I'm trying to work around that, but it's a huge amount of work...

Sorry for bringing the thread to life again, but it would be really nice if the info was available anywhere. Even if u write "GPU: doesn't matter" it's useful, since ppl know that they don't have to worry about that part.
I'm asking since I want to buy a laptop that would manage Krita (my old one proved too low on RAM and CPU) and I wouldn't like to get something that's too weak again. Yeah, download section is a good place. |
