I know there has been talk about this feature set for awhile and I know it was teased at the beginning of the year. I was just curious as to what the status is on animation tools coming to Krita? Is there a way to get involved in testing at this point? I am a professional animator by day, and I am very excited at the prospect of animation tools coming to Krita.

Well, Somsubhra got a long way during his summer of code project, but it's not in a stage where it can be used in production. Parts of the gui are done and most of the file format.

Thanks for the reply. I am very anxious! I like what I saw in Somsubrhra's proposed approach. As great as programs like Flash and Toonboom are (especially their timeline interface), the fact that they are vector-based is a real shame. To me, Pressure-based opacity along with size is essential to getting really good digital drawings for animation.

@boudewijn I am super excited about the animation tool. Is there any build I can test?
One more thing, Where can I get the list of accepted proposals(and their current progress) for this year's Krita GSoC '14? |

I don't know that there's an official list public accessible, but for Krita we had three proposals: Somsubhra's animation plugin, Mohit's brush system improvements and Fences' 3D painting. There was also Wenchao who was going to implement variable width vector graphics. The latter two have failed; Somsubhra and Mohit are going strong!

Thanks! After googling I've found their progress from here : http://kritawithmohit.wordpress.com/ and here : http://blog.somsubhra.com/ |

This feature is looking pretty sweet. Looking forward to seeing it's development.
(one of the main reasons I downloaded it.) |
