I do not know if this has been discussed elsewhere, I love Krita's features yet for my workflow there is one tool that I can't seam to locate if possible that's a navigational window (Window that shows full image overview with smaller square that represents zoomed in workspace area can be moved quickly to navigate canvas.),
I've found an overview window yet is seems to serve little in functionality other than presenting an overall view of art. I tend to work with larger High Res images when zoomed in simply scrolling takes some time to locate desired workspace area. I'd really love to use Krita more yet as of right now there are just a couple little things that cause my workflow to slowdown. Instead of posting another topic and taking up board space I'm place another suggestion here. I tend to color alot using gradient tool and selection areas for crisp digital art. Here's a link to example art I created for commission https://www.dropbox.com/s/sqg68zrsl4yke4o/crock%20controller.png (Image is property of client. sorry example not created in Krita.) I love that Krita has paint selection tool very nice yet it would be greatly appreciated if there was a brush or tool that could also erase parts of selection for greater accuracy in obtaining desired selection (some similar programs that include this feature AZdrawing FireAlpaca etc.) I hate mentioning other imaging software on Krita yet Gimps also has a unique lasso tool that speeds up selection process and workflow, its lasso combines tracing free selection and placing nodes together in a seamless way without switching tools. (wish other programs would develop something similar.) Thank you for developing such a wonderful Art Program, once I get out of the staving artist phase I like to make some contributions in the future. Thank you Krita team for your diligence dedication and handwork ~William Perkins~ |

Kudos on navigation square. AS far as I know it's a feature planned. Overview docker has been just added so probably it will be enhanced for 2.9
Im not sure I get the selection problem. I can add and substract from selections ok. (SHIFT + A to add, SHIFT + S to substract). Outline selection works well for free selections. The closest thing to an hybrid free + path, could be the path selection. There is nothing that I know of straight forward to make a selection and edit it using previous points. It would be nice. This is not fast, but it could be done, in case you need super precise selections. Add a vector layer, make a path shape as a selection, make sure it has a fill. Got to layer > Select opaque. Another idea is to use Layer "Local selections" - On the local selection layer, make a loose selection. - Paint white to add selection and black to remove it. That's all I can think of at the moment =/ Please report your wish to https://bugs.kde.org/ to make devs more aware of the issue.

Better selection manipulation is one of the suggestions for the 2.9 roadmap, actually. It needs a proper design, though -- we can't just go with "do as gimp/photoshop/sai/opencanvas/mypaint" does.
Though.. We probably _can_ do like mypaint does, that's not so hard! |

Hi Wll!
Awsome image! This is the bug/wish for improving the overview docker: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=329959 Basically, the state it is now is what I needed myself when I used krita to paint -- some time last year I had a spare weekend, so I thought I'd give it a try ![]() |
