Linux Mint_17rc Cinnamon 64 bit recognizes my Wacom Intuos pen & touch small CTH480 and can easily download Krita_2.8.1 and it is very easy to use. I am testing this prior to getting the LTS version, due out by the end of May. Details: krita_1.2.8.1-1-Oubuntu3 (103 MB) needs 288 MB disk space, on KDE_4.13.0. Linux Mint_17rc Cinnamon 64 bit downloaded from Distrowatch, burned to DVD+RW and run from an external BUFFALO DVD drive. No hard drive connected, ASUS 64 bit motherboard and 8 GB of memory used.

mm... I won't call it 'good'. I tested last week on 17 RC release , to check the Gnome Wacom support's fork.
The Wacom support of Mint 17 is based on Gnome 3.8 wacom panel ( as far as I could guess by the design of the GUI ). Ubuntu Unity 14.04 is also based on Gnome 3.8 wacom panel. Even 'Ubuntu Gnome edition', prentending shipping Gnome 3.10 pack a regression : the Control Center Version 3.8 ( but write on their website it's Gnome 3.10 - and duh ! - even not written in the release notes .... ). A lot of things got fixed after Gnome 3.10 , and a bit more in 3.12 ( especially for Cintiqs , OLED and GUI ) . It's now 10 time better ; Check this video http://youtu.be/tsv7x-Jou8s to see it running. A pity this wasn't forked in Mint, because I know they renamed all 'Wacom tablet' to 'tablet' only, and this work on their side will certainly block an easy port 3.10 or 3.12 ... |
