Hi.
Newbie here.... I want to learn how to use Krita to create publishable art... mainly eCovers for my kindle fiction books. And I have no experience in digital art creation and certainly no artist by any traditional means. Just one with lots of creativity and a willingness to learn a new skill. So...How easy is it to learn Krita and create publishable art graphics? Of course, I know that a learning curve is needed and how well I master it plus other factors must be taken into account. I guess what I really want to know ... is the experience of other users in how and why they use this app tool and for them to share any tips they have in mastering Krita. Thank you very much for your help! |

You do need to have some sort of traditional drawing skills. This is a 2d art program, meaning that a lot of the same logic applies. I have a tumblr where I have some tutorials describing how to colour with 2d painting software: http://theratutorial.tumblr.com/ There's also the video blog http://www.ctrlpaint.com/ , though this mostly uses photoshop. Other than that, if you're a decent 2d artist, Krita is wonderful, because it's a lot less of a mess than a full drawing table. It of course, works best with a tablet. While this may seem very discouraging, I think you should be enthused: You are inexperienced, which means you can go out and try a whole lot of new things and have fun It will of course take time to become good, but to make it easier, you probably should consider drawing, and colouring as a silly game you play to relax. Noone but yourself will judge you for what you create, and it can serve as a source of relaxation if you just focus on learning and playing rather than judging your own mistakes. Krita is especially valuable with this, because the one thing I hear from experienced painters new to Krita is always that 'Krita is very fun'. Good luck! |
