Krita Crashes on 4K image creation, and sluggish

Hi All,
I'm trying to convert myself from Photoshop to Krita, so bare with me if the questions might sound strange...

System: Fedora20, KDE, nVidia Driver 311.79 (nvidia binary, not kmod), geForce 1GB GTX 470, 12GB ram

1.) If I try and create a new document with size 4096x4096 ( 16bit float, linear ) Krita freezes and sometimes manage to create it or it will crash after a few brush strokes. Trying to do the same but with 8bit sRGB does the same. It seems it's the size that is the problem.

2.) Using any of the document presets having docs above 2K the brushes becomes slow, and if I select something with the select tool and translate it, it's also very very sluggish. If I enable OpenGL in the preferences Krita crashes almost instantly.

Maybe there is a setting somewhere I might have missed, but everything above 2K seems to not work very well.

Hm, works well for me on archlinux with the exact options you gave, as well as other options (tested up to 16k by 16k) -- maybe upload the crash report somewhere?

You could also try the latest unstable version, where the issue you're seeing might already be fixed. But that would probably entail building krita from source, which takes a while.

As for brush performance: it depends a lot on the brush and how large you set the brush size. For instance the ink_gpen_10 brush works relatively fast for me even at a radius of 1000 pixels, but other brushes like airbrush_linear_noisy will totally lag out at that radius.

You could also post the output of `glxinfo` somewhere (paste.kde.org for instance), that'd allow us to verify that OpenGL should work on your setup.

Here is my glxInfo,
http://paste.kde.org/pxbvbf1xv

My card is working fine otherwise with Modo and Blender, so nothing wrong there. And if I use a HD template in Krita it also works fine. I'll do some more investigation and see what I can come up with, I'll see if I give the unstable a shot.
