Krita Icon Font

Tue Jul 08, 2014 6:23 pm
Aren´t the new Icons for the Krita UI plainly awesome? :o

They are so awesome that i decided to make a Iconfont with them. The original Idea behind this work was to create useful tools for people writing Tutorials e.g. about krita or more generally about digital painting. I haven´t really thought of making this webfont first, but in the process i had this fix idea... and.. a bit more styling here - a bit more coding there - ya know what can happen :D

Documentation, download and Usage Instructions can be found here:

The Project Page and The GitHub Repository

Iconfonts have several advantages (compared to single images/icons):

- easy to use and to adjust
- easy to style with css and to include in the markup
- lightweight page loading (cacheable, only a few http requests, small file size)

The Krita Icon Font comes with several extra features:

- light and dark theme
- size classes
- css-based "tooltips"
- grouping (vertical/horizontal)

I haven´t planned to do more on this yet - it´s pretty complete i would say. Maybe some icons or css styles need some refactoring. Well, not today^^
I could imagine that it might be interesting to use this resource for the new krita website, that is actually under development.. If there are any questions or issues don't hesitate to fire up a message in my direction.

At least i like to clarify that i have only written the css code and done the font generation. With this awesome icons created by Angel Antondo(*) all the rest was easy doing...
* I hope i am right here with the name? I haven´t fount an url to link to the author, yet. Maybe someone can point me to the person/url/contact to do that.
