MVC branch and some other stuff

Sat Dec 06, 2014 5:48 pm
Hello,
I am making a post here regarding all the things I notice about the MVC branch on Linux. This is better for me rather than reporting many bugs at the same time. Also I wish to talk about some other things as I have started using Krita for some serious work.

• The subWindow mode has a few drawing issues, when the windows overlap
• Specific Color Selector loses its selection when more than one window is opened
• I wud like to recommend small toolbar icons for MVC as now only some icons change to small size. Small icons will work well with tabbedMode.
• Most important of all the tool shortcuts have disappeared from the assign shortcuts menu. I only use hotkeys for tools.

I shall add to this thread if I see other things. As far as general Krita things I find missing or need work, I am just mentioning below. I know the devs are busy and am aware of the Krita schedule for the future so I am not trying to add pressure or make demands. But some of these things seem necessary...

TRANSFORM TOOL
• I may be missing something here but I cant scale proportionally from the center. The sliders Scott implemented sometime back were the only way to do this . They seem to be gone now.
• Does QT allow for virtual sliders, I mean like Pshop has where you can click on a number and just drag left or right ?
• The skew/shear area is too big. If I zoom out and want to move I always end up shearing
• When a selection is scaled in one direction negatively and then rotated the rotations are flipped, this is a bit confusing
• Selecting the warp algorithm every time gets tedious. It wud be great if the tool remembered the settings

MISC
• Toolbox doesn't register tool changes by hotkey (this was before the MVC update in dmitry's repo)
• Brush size jumps back to preset size while painting - Bug? (dirty preset checkBox seems to be a workaround)

FUTURE
• Ability to rename layers when cursor is outside docker area after doubleClicking. This goes for numerical inputs as well.
• Gwenview integration as an optional browser and miniBridge type thing. This is way into the future, just wanted to put it out there.

Thanks

I dunno where Krita is getting its shortcuts from? When I save hotkeys they get written to the rc file but on a restart Krita uses the default hotkeys again.

We've gone into feature freeze, and the shortcut bug has been fixed. I'll ask demitry if he can update Krita Lime related to that. :)

While the tools hotkeys are kind of constant now yet some hotkeys are getting reset on Krita start, like

Show Rulers
Show Color Selector
Show MyPaint Selector
Show Minimal Color Selector

These exist in the rc file but switch to default hotkeys

I am working on a mech piece for a while and feel the need for a few things -
* Reload preset button in the BrushPreset dropDown and maybe in the docker as well. I know theres one in the composite toolbar section, but I have it hidden.
* Ability to stroke selections. I dunno who uses the draw rectangle/ellipse tools but maybe someone does. I can get away with using a shaped gradient but its not a great way to do things, kinda hacky...

Merry Christmas
