I still has no luck. No pen pressure with Intuos 3, a lot of problems to change drivers to use my other pen tablet, a Bamboo... then back to Intuos 3. With drivers version 6.2.9x3
It doesn't work well with the virtual Windows, the cursor jumps and you can't draw.
I tryed with my last chance: a Windows 7 in a small ASUS laptop, but the chip is not supported. I will try later because I lost my morning... :-( I will work now :-P

Keep the good work. See you later.

Hello,

I used the free software for a long time. I am under 10.3.3 with a Mac mini and a Wacom tablet. Up to version 2.8.80.1 Krita was as fluid as the Gimp (without X11) but after the software opens well but there is a huge delay on the rafraissement of the screen! I see well my stroke on the stamp of the layer but it is necessary to wait a long time for that the stroke is displayed on the screen!!! Is this that this bug has already been reported? Or do I go for better in speak?

I have Xcode installed and i can try to compile me even the source if it is not too complicated.

bravo for the work done and I'd like that OSX is retained for the development also.

Phelibre,

Further to my previous message: if OpenGL is disabled then the display is immediate but the pressure of the stylus is not active (MacMini Intuos 2) :( On my MacAir with a pallet Bamboo I happened to have the pressure of the stylus with OpenGL disabled, but this is not the 100% !

The problem of displaying and the pressure of the stylus seems to come from poor management of OpenGL Apple ….

I'm afraid that building Krita on OSX is actually quite complicated, unless you use macports. There is a macports recipe, but it's quite some time since I used that. The way I do it is documented at https://community.kde.org/Krita/osxbuild

Yes I used Macport ...

Finally everything works now on both my Mac with krita 2.9.4.5 .dmg
I installed the driver for Bamboo Pen version 5.3.6 (Intuos 2 is native) on the MacMini.
I deactive therefore OpenGL and now i well manages the stylus pressure on my two pallets o)

Thank you very much for your work, if you need to tester, do not hesitate!

Cordially,

Glad you got things working!

I'm also trying Krita on OS X, with an Intuos Pro Medium tablet; and I am also bumping into the issue where the stylus pressure does not work.

So did you do anything special in building Krita yourself? Did you have to disable OpenGL or something?

EDIT:

Strange. I just checked the Preferences again, in the official 2.9.4.3 build. OpenGL was disabled. So I activated OpenGL in the Preferences. Now pressure and eraser magically work.

Ok, it's still quirky: if you disable OpenGL, stylus pressure and the eraser tip do not work, but the pop-up palette would work. However, If you enable OpenGL, stylus pressure and the eraser tip work, but the pop-up palette won't work - if I invoke the pop-up palette with a stylus side-button, Krita would try to bring up the pop-up palette, but it's invisible.

More observations from testing...

  1. The pressure sensitivity and stylus eraser sometimes work even with OpenGL disabled: I have to cycle OpenGL between enabled and disabled a couple of times in Preferences until it starts working by chance;
  2. The pressure sensitivity and stylus eraser bug does not apply globally: if I have two drawings open (in several tabs), pressure sensitivity and eraser can work in one drawing but not in the other;
  3. The pop-up palette, however, never works with OpenGL enabled so far;

That sounds so weird... We don't even have our own tablet code on OSX, we use Qt's. I'm wondering -- does pressure sensitivity work in the brush editor scratch pad?

I just tried. Pressure sensitivity does not work in the brush editor scratch pad, even with OpenGL enabled.

Another weirdness: the foreground brush colour tends to get automatically reset to some kind of blue whenever I enable OpenGL.

Hey! Just a little tip for other OS X users/testers of Krita if you want to have a crosshair (since the brush outline lags behind with the stroke.. and the arrow pointer glitches and gets stuck on hand tool and other cursors for me at least) you can use Mousecape to change the system cursor as a workaround:
https://github.com/alexzielenski/Mousecape

And I made two crosshair cursor to go with that:

Bugs for OSX can also go to bugs.kde.org, just select the right OS. I've seen the pressure sensitivity issue by now as well, but I haven't got time to look into it, I'm afraid.
