Hello everyone,
I'm very new on this forum. I hope I'm in the right section. I came to notify that the latest (yet still experimental) version for MacOSX of Krita is functioning on OS X Yosemite 10.10.2. I downloaded the latest version available yesterday from the download page. The About Krita menu says :
I'm testing Krita for the first time. I'm using a MacBook Pro early 2011. I opened yesterday one of my TIFF, a photograph saved with options: RGB 16 bits/channel. This morning I came back, software still running. I tried painting some random lines on a different layer then save that sample to an JPEG (with "force sRBG", "quality 90%"). I only noticed a bug in selecting the filetype: The wrong extension was proposed in the filename textfield. Also, as the developer team is not registered to Apple, most users will have to force the launch in the Security system prefpane. You should warn about this on the download page. I'm available for more testing. |

There is no 'developer team' for Krita on OSX... It's just me who does the builds on his ancient mac mini. I only have Mavericks to test on. It doesn't have a monitor, so I run through vncviewer. It's good to know that Krita starts on Yosemite, though!
The filetype/extension bug in the file dialog should have been fixed, though: if I select jpeg, it saves as jpeg. Which version did you download exactly? |

Hi, lonely builder ! As I noticed in my first message, I downloaded the DMG file from Krita's download page on the website and the About menu says me "version 2.9 Pre-Alpha (git a74406e)". In addition, I can say that the archive is named: "Krita-2.8.79.10.dmg". And the datetime shown in Finder for Krita.app is July 3, 2014 13:35. Hope it will help. |

Okay -- we're posting the betas on files.kde.org/krita/osx. The latest beta is http://files.kde.org/krita/osx/krita-2.8.93.0.dmg

I downloaded the indicated file.
Still in "save as" dialog, when I click the dropdown and choose PNG then again but JPEG, .png is proposed and the PNG export options dialog is shown after clicking "save". In fact, if I randomly choose different filetypes, still the previous one seems internally set. (In the "save as" dialog AND the "export" dialog) It's a bit annoying. But still, we can click 2 times on the same filetype or choose "all" and type our desired extension. Not a blocking bug. |

I was running it a couple of days ago on my 3,1 Mac Pro (Early 2008). It seemed to run pretty well except canvas navigation was a little clunky and basic smoothing didn't work even when turned on.

Basic smoothing was probably working, you just don't notice it until you use an old tablet like the graphire 3. The smoothing is really subtle.

It definitely wasn't working. You're right it is subtle but once you notice it, it sticks out like crazy when it's not on. It's possible that it could be my cintiq 24HD as I've been back and forth with wacom support about lag issues, but I don't have the same problem with rhel or ubuntu.

Just downloaded Krita 2.9 for mac (MacBook pro 2012, 15" OSX 10.10.2 As a begginer I installed several brush packages; they work very well; but when I tried to do the right clik, the popoup palette got stuck behind the canvas screen (I know that, because when I quit Krita it show up for a second). I looked for tutorials about this, but, as we know there are so few for mac. Love Krita, waiting for the Animation mod (the one is show in the krita tutorials by its own creator), and the perspective, including the new tool for inking. Oh tried to used the bug report, and just got the message: not available. Some advise please. (I'm using a wacom intuos 5 small 2013)

I reported crash problems earlier on another thread with 10.10.2 on my 2007 mac (intel) but an update came along and it has not crashed since so I think a lot of the problem is the same old mac issue of conflict. So far so good. Keeping fingers crossed.
My wacom works fine as a tablet except I can't use the eraser end--it still thinks its a pencil so I am assuming that is what you are talking about in on of the earlier posts. Smoothing seems fine though on the Intuos 4. I have this on my windows systems but my Mac Screen is much larger. Keep up the good work! |

I'm a Intuos3 user, iMac 27' late 2009, Mac OS 10.10.3. The pen pressure doesn't work. Is there any way to fix it? update? I suggest to add any type of notifications about known issues like OpenGL incompatibilities, old graphic tablets, and others, to notify users with any pop up window and not to be forced to go to the forum. Good work boudewijn, TheraHedwig and the KDE team, and keep on with your great support. Thank you very much, and regards from Madrid, Spain. |

Well, we were hoping that 'unstable' and 'not officially supported' may have warned people in general not to try Krita for anything but fun examination. We have however noticed people try doing proffesional work with it? Is there something we are misunderstanding about mac osx users? The reason we don't officially support it is because Krita on OSX is literally half-finished, and we need time and money to finish the other half, so right now you pen pressure issue could be a multitude of things, amongst which the missing half. (We give out the download links because we want OSX users to know about Krita in the case we'll do a fundraiser to finish up the rest) |

It's with an intuos 3 that I test tablet support on OSX, and last time I checked, it worked.

I do tutorials and classes for kids in school, and I just discovered yesterday the Krita app due a recomendation from a friend. I work in Mac OS X, yes, I don't need more apps to do what I do. I want to have a good painting program to use in public school. I was using Gimp but I hate it I'm glad to know about Krita and I will be glad to send you money because, at last, there's a very good app at the level of pro apps. I think that I can forget others apps and change to Krita. I only need pen pressure in my Mac! XD I'm downloading and installing Krita in my virtual Windows to try it, because I want to suggest to install Krita in the school computers. I want to be sure that everything works well to request the school's technical department to let me permission to do that. I'm very happy to know about your work and I want to work with Krita, support it and be part of your community, and spread the word in Spain Thank you very much. |

Haha, that's good to hear!
Well, considering you're spanish, we have a lovely (spanish spoken) dvd made by a spanish artist, Ramon Miranda: https://krita.org/learn/tutorials/ His dvd is for an older version of Krita, but it gives a good idea of what Krita can do and how to use it. (I know you didn't ask for it, but it's a good thing to know anyway ) Good luck with tackling the school's ITC! I hope the students will love Krita! |
